The list of approved projects refers to the second evaluation meeting, which was held on April 25th. During this round, considering the 67 authorized projects, 33 were classified and selected; one was disqualified; 22 were not selected; and 11 did not achieve the minimum rating.
The Program was created by Biblioteca Nacional (BN) and aims to disseminate Brazilian culture and literature abroad by granting financial support for the translation and publication of works by Brazilian authors.
Among the established criteria followed by the Evaluation Commission are the relevance of the work for the promotion and dissemination of Brazilian culture and literature abroad and the project's consistency, which takes into account the translator's curriculum, the distribution and sales plans, the publisher's catalog and its ability to execute the project.
Other aspects that may be taken into account by the commission are the diversity of genres, authors and target countries – those with little or no support so far, as well as countries considered as strategic markets for the diffusion of Brazilian literature may be prioritized.
